Presumably this made up résumé was given by him to cover up his past in Germany. He told of his exhibitions in Antwerp, of a tour of the USA as a portrait painter, but there is no evidence of this today. He wanted to study art, but quickly switched to practice. He adapted his first name to the French spelling "Édouard".
